Thuringian Culture
Thuringia has an enormous cultural wealth. Along the medieval 'Via Regia', the ancient cities of Eisenach, Gotha, Erfurt, Weimar and Jena are lined up like pearls on a string.
For centuries, Thuringia was divided into many small states of counts, dukes and kings, who had too little power or money to go to war. One could only distinguish oneself as a court by appointing artists or scientists. This created a climate in Thuringia in which many poets, painters, composers and other artists and scientists could flourish. At almost every step the visitor follows in the footsteps of famous people such as Bach, Luther, Goethe and Schiller. There are many castles, cathedrals and museums, several of which are on the UNESCO World Heritage List.
The village of Langenbach was first mentioned in history in 1525 when the glass blowing industry started here.
Langenbach is an excellent starting point for a day trip to cultural highlights such as Arnstadt, Ilmenau, Weimar, Gotha and Erfurt. Or combine your stay with a visit to interesting cities such as Jena, Leipzig or Dresden.
